• Since moving to Seattle in 2016, I've been exploring the city on foot. I seek out unique places not found on the typical pedestrian routes - public alleyways, staircases, scenic viewpoints, & hidden gems.
  • In addition to being an enjoyable form of exercise, I've found that urban hiking has allowed me to learn more about the history, geography, and geology of the city I call home.
  • I usually create my walking routes from looking at a map, but I must also give credit to two resources that I regularly consult. They are the book Seattle Stairway Walks & the blog Year of Seattle Parks - both excellent sources of reference material.
  • I often frequent the same ~dozen or so routes that I know well, however I am (slowly) working towards creating a planned route for every neighborhood of the city.
